Job Description The purpose of this role is to provide hands-on execution within the team responsible for FX and related derivatives (all products traded in the APAC region in cash and derivatives) applications used by the Capital markets business. The role will provide full front office support and collaborate with other teams to provide product lifecycle support. It will predominantly support the front office. This role will also require co-ordination and communication with global technology teams. The key client offices are in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney with relationships needed in London and Toronto. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide expertise in applications used by the FX front Office the function relies on a understanding of the inner workings of the systems and analytical methods used in the RBC APAC offices Operate as a technical and application SME for the FX / Capital Markets division assisting the business with technical / application and trading issues in general including new initiatives and existing enhancements Follow local and global operating procedures. In particular Change Management and Incident procedures Deploy and test new releases, ensuring the integrity of systems as they are deployed in the region Participate in Global Projects and work close within an integrated FX team Work closely with other team members to share knowledge / experience, and to ensure the efficient resolution of issues and smooth running of the systems Liaise directly with end users, global teams and vendors AUTHORITIES, IMPACT, RISK: Work with teams locally and around the world to implement the FX Strategy Works with limited supervision as part of a strong local and global team KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Regional Head of FX Application Support APAC FX Application Support Team peers and members of equivalent teams in London and Toronto (during tradinghours overlap) Infrastructure teams within APAC Application development teams in London and Toronto EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Required University degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering or equivalent experience Good technology skills. Be able to work in Linux environment. Experience at least one relational database. Good communication skills with front office as well as global support team in other regions. Understanding of FIX protocol, Web socket connectivity. Preferred Prior development experience Be familiar with vendor system including Murex, Reuters, and Bloomberg etc. Has working experience with front office trading desk. Has product knowledge of FX and FX derivatives. Technical UNIX / Wintel skills and scripting experience Strong database skills (e.g. Sybase, MS-SQL) including SQL Understanding of multi-tier systems, web technologies and messaging systems Programming skills and concepts particularly object orientated methodology desirable.
