You will be joining the Insurance Platform Finance team, which is responsible for financial close process, provides technical accounting advisory, and establishes the overall control framework for Insurance. The Director, Accounting & Regulatory Policy will act as an advisor and provide oversight and accounting & regulatory advisory to RBCI. They will seek out opportunities to improve operational accounting processes, drive consistency of financial & regulatory reporting, and bring efficiency, automation, accuracy and reliability in financial statement and regulatory return preparation process. In addition, they will lead operational accounting projects and cross-enterprise initiatives related to the Insurance platform, liaising and collaborating with various stakeholders both within and outside of the platform. What will you do? Research and provide technical accounting guidance, as well as address specific technical accounting & regulatory queries raised by various stakeholders. Strong, clear communication to senior management through issue life cycle – from identification to implementation and monitoring, and consideration of existing policies and related controls. Act as a liaison and subject matter expert on all topics relating to new and existing standards (with IFRS 17 and 9 expertise), disclosure requirements, and proper accounting for transactions Lead the Platform in updating, revising and clarifying existing accounting policies as written by the enterprise Accounting Policy Group, including interpretations of complex accounting issues related to insurance platform Provide leadership on certain quarterly and annual external disclosure requirements, including the impact of regulatory changes (OSFI, AMF, etc). Coordinate and lead the Insurance platform in the management of implementation of new IFRS accounting & regulatory projects, and improvement in existing accounting and regulatory reporting by: Developing project plans and collaborating with Insurance Finance team to set up and achieve milestones in accordance with the planned objectives.
